CERT Solutions are working with a two-form entry school in the Saltley area of Birmingham, who are searching for SENCO to join their team from February.

The ‘Good’ rated school have said they require an experienced SENCO who is passionate about supporting students with special educational needs. The ideal candidate must be someone who is committed to working closely with the existing team to continue delivering excellent SEND support, as the current SENCO is reducing their days to two per week but will still be involved in all planning.

Position Details:

  • Role: Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)
  • Location: Saltley, Birmingham
  • Days: Part-time, 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
  • Start Date: February 2025
  • Duration: Long-term, with potential for a permanent position for the right candidate
  • Salary: Dependent upon experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the school’s SEND register, which currently includes 53 students with various needs.
  • Supporting and implementing Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) in collaboration with a well-established Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Providing guidance and leadership to staff regarding SEND practices.
  • Working closely with the existing part-time SENCO to ensure smooth transitions and continuous support for students.
  • Liaising with external agencies, parents, and carers to ensure the best outcomes for students with additional needs

Requirements:

  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Be a qualified SENCO, with the National Award for SEN Coordination (or equivalent).
  • Have proven experience in a SENCO role or a similar leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND codes of practice and experience implementing EHCPs.
