CERT Solutions are working in partnership with a special school in Sutton Coldfield for children ages 2-11, they are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to start immediately!

A bit about the school:

All of the children who attend the school have a Statement of Special Educational Need or an Education and Health Care Plan. The school educates children with complex and multiple needs. Children may have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) or a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Some children have additional needs including visual impairment and hearing impairment and behaviour difficulties.

Pay:

Paid to scale MPS1 – UPS3 (£162 – £251 per day PAYE) depending on your current pay grade with SEN Allowance

What you’ll Do:

  • Create tailored plans to meet each student’s needs, abilities, and EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) goals.
  • Modify lesson plans and resources to ensure accessibility and engagement
  • Use sensory-based learning, visual supports, and assistive technologies.
  • Use AAC tools (e.g., Makaton, PECS, communication boards)
  • Follow the school’s behavior plans and maintain a calm, consistent approach
  • Work closely with therapists (e.g., speech and language, occupational, physiotherapists) and other specialists.

Requirements:

  • A recognized teaching qualification (Bachelor’s in Education, PGCE, or QTS or QTLS).
  • Experience of working with SEN children is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a drive to continually improve teaching practices.
