SEN Teacher (ASD & SEMH)

Location: Handsworth
Start Date: January 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term

Cert Solutions is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join a dynamic team at a special school in Handsworth. This rewarding role requires a skilled professional who thrives in supporting students with ASD and SEMH needs, particularly those displaying physically challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored, engaging lessons to meet the needs of students with ASD and SEMH.
  • Provide effective communication support, including using PECS and Alternative and Augmentative Communication tools such as aided language displays.
  • Lead and support a team of teaching assistants, promoting teamwork and ensuring consistent behaviour management and learning strategies.
  • Develop individualised behaviour and education plans to support students in achieving their potential.
  • Problem-solve effectively and demonstrate resilience in managing challenging behaviours.

Person Specification:

  • Experience Required: Minimum of two years teaching experience in an SEN setting, specifically working with ASD and SEMH needs.
  • Proven expertise in managing physically challenging behaviours and implementing supportive strategies.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in using PECS and ALDs to aid communication.
  • Strong team management skills, with the ability to lead and support staff effectively.
  • Resilient, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
