CERT Solutions are seaching for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a lovely, one-form entry primary school in Handsworth. This rewarding role involves supporting two autistic boys, one of whom displays challenging behaviour.
The children are both reception age but spend most of their time within the nursery classroom.
As the children do not yet do full days at school, the role is between the hours of 8.30 and 13.00, Monday to Friday. This will be a long term role, likely until the end of the school year in July.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to two boys with autism, tailoring strategies to meet their individual needs.
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour effectively, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Foster communication, social, and academic skills in line with their education plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and parents to provide consistent support.
Requirements:
- Essential: Proven experience working as an SEN TA in a mainstream or specialist SEN school.
- Essential: Level 3 or above qualification in a relevant field such as Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
- Strong understanding of autism and managing challenging behaviour.
- Patience, resilience, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to implement behaviour management strategies effectively.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
