We are working with a fantastic school in Solihull that is looking for a skilled D&T Teacher to join their team starting January 2025 or from February 2025
The Role
As a D&T teacher, you will:
- Deliver engaging and creative lessons across a range of D&T disciplines, including product design, resistant materials, electronics, graphics, or food technology (dependent on the school’s curriculum).
- Inspire students to develop practical skills, critical thinking, and creativity in their projects.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing support and feedback to ensure academic success.
- Maintain a safe and well-organized learning environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Contribute to the school community through extracurricular activities, such as clubs or competitions related to design and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Use a variety of teaching techniques to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning atmosphere.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training, and professional development.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster an environment of innovation and excellence.
- Ensure all students are safeguarded and their welfare is promoted.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be on the path to achieving it before the start date.
- Have a degree in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrate expertise in one or more D&T specialisms (e.g., product design, electronics, or food technology).
- Be familiar with the UK national curriculum for Design & Technology.
- Have excellent classroom management skills and a passion for teaching.
Minimum Qualifications
To teach as a qualified D&T teacher in the UK, you’ll need:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject.
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) or SCITT (School-Centered Initial Teacher Training) leading to QTS.
- Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service clearance).
