CERT Solutions are a family run 5* education agency that specialise in flexible day cover, short/long term roles, as well as fixed term contracts and permanent positions within schools!
We are looking for a teacher to start at an SEN school in Sandwell after Easter to support a small primary ASD class. The class has 8 pupils that range from Year 2 to 6. Most are non-verbal and all have a diagnosis of ASD and/or communication and language difficulties. All are working well below their chronological ages and some can present with challenging behaviours at times.
The teacher needs to have experience of working within a specialist setting and with pupils with ASD and complex needs. The desired candidate needs to preferably be familiar with the phonics scheme ‘Little Wandle’ and have used SCERTS to support communication and interaction.
To be considered you must have some experience teaching children/young people with SEND in the UK, ideally within a school setting, but similar residential experience considered.
Please note that only candidates with suitable UK experience and qualifications (QTS/QTLS) will be considered for this post. Unsuitable candidates will not be contacted.
The successful candidate will essentially have:
- Experience teaching SEND in the UK (primary, secondary, FE)
- PGCE with QTS/QTLS or similar (SEN ECT’s may be considered)
- Clear DBS on the update service (If not, a DBS can be processed for a fee)
- 2 references that cover the past two years (one should ideally be childcare or education based)
- Full time availability and able to start after Easter break
Your responsibilities will be:
- Teaching a class of students (age of your choice)
- To instruct all support staff within the classroom
- To plan for lessons and mark work of students
- Follow the behavioural policies set by the school
- Ensuring the safeguarding of pupils always
