Description
SEN Teaching Assistant required for a large, vibrant primary school in Birmingham from September. This role is to support a child with additional needs on a 1:1 basis.
The Teaching Assistant role is full-time for the academic year and is primarily to support a child with additional needs. The child has challenging behaviour and some traits of ADHD and autism. The school is looking for someone with strong knowledge and understanding of how to interact effectively when a child’s emotions are heightened, and who is skilled in de-escalating behaviour.
While this Teaching Assistant role is primarily to provide 1:1 SEN support, you will be integrated within the class and spend the majority of the day within the mainstream classroom. You will be supporting groups of children with learning activities across the curriculum and you will be required to take the child you support out for interventions and brain breaks as appropriate.
Essential requirements for applicants:
- Experience supporting in KS1/2
- Strong knowledge and understanding of supporting children with additional needs
- Experience working in a UK primary school
- DBS on the update service
- Right to Work in the UK
- Professional references covering 2 full years
- All rates are inclusive of holiday pay
