CERT Solutions are working with a large, ‘Good’ rated, three-form entry mainstream primary school in Tyseley.
The school are searching for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to help support a Year 1 boy with challenging behaviour. You will be working closely with class teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support that helps him thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
This is a Full-time role, 8.30am – 3.30pm ( days per week) and would be long term for the right person, up to the end of the academic year. The school are looking for someone to start ASAP.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with challenging behaviour, helping him access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
- Implement individual behaviour plans and use effective strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
- Foster the child’s emotional well-being by creating a nurturing and structured environment.
- Work closely with the class teacher to plan and deliver personalised learning activities and interventions.
- Use positive reinforcement and rewards to encourage desired behaviours and motivate the pupil.
- Monitor and assess the pupil’s progress, keeping detailed records and providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
What We’re Looking For:
- Essential: Experience working in an SEN school or 1:1 support in a mainstream setting.
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach to managing challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
