CERT Solutions are looking for an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic special school in Handsworth, starting after the Easter holidays.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Handsworth, Birmingham
Start Date: After Easter Holidays
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Age Range: EYFS to Post-16
Salary: £90-£100 per day

About the School:
This is a vibrant and inclusive special school dedicated to supporting children and young people with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), behavioural challenges, and profound learning difficulties. The school caters for pupils from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to Post-16, providing a highly supportive and tailored educational experience that promotes independence, confidence, and life skills.

The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to school the development of pupils. You’ll assist in delivering personalised learning plans, managing behaviour positively, and creating a safe, engaging, and respectful learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with complex needs and behavioural challenges
  • Implementing individual education and behaviour plans
  • Assisting with personal care and daily routines, where required
  • Encouraging communication, social skills, and engagement
  • Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience supporting children with SEN, especially ASC and challenging behaviour
  • Is calm, compassionate, and resilient
  • Can build strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff
  • Is proactive, flexible, and willing to learn
  • Holds a relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, TA qualification) – though experience and the right attitude are just as important
