CERT Solutions are working with a warm and welcoming primary school in the Saltley area of Birmingham, who are searching for a Year 1 Teacher to cover a maternity leave from September 2025 through to July 2026.

This is a full-time role with full class teacher responsibilities, including planning, assessment, and contributing to the wider school community. The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative staff team, working within a well-resourced Key Stage 1 environment.

We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs). The school have also said they would be willing to support signing off of ECTs for the right candidate. 

Requirements:

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, particularly Year 1

  • Proven ability (or potential, in the case of ECTs) to plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that support all learners

  • Confident in using assessment to inform teaching and track pupil progress

  • Excellent behaviour management skills and a nurturing approach to classroom relationships

  • Strong communication skills, both with pupils and parents

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching in Year 1 or within Key Stage 1

  • Knowledge of phonics teaching (preferably Letters and Sounds or Little Wandle)
