Due to high demand, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified History teacher to begin immediately. This role is ideal for educators eager to bring History and Humanities to life for students of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping them understand the past and engage with the world around them.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience in teaching History at the secondary level (Key Stage 3 and 4).
- Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to adapt to different school environments.
- Strong passion for History and the Humanities, with creative teaching techniques to engage diverse learners.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willing to apply for one)
As a supply teacher specializing in History and Humanities, your primary responsibility is to provide engaging, effective lessons that align with the curriculum and meet school expectations. Supply teachers play a critical role in maintaining continuity for students, especially in subjects like History, where understanding of timelines, perspectives, and critical thinking is foundational.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Engaging Lessons: Use prepared materials or develop lesson plans that bring History topics to life, covering areas like World Wars, the British Empire, ancient civilizations, and key historical figures.
- Classroom Management: Adapt quickly to new classroom environments, maintain positive behavior management, and ensure a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
- Adaptability: Step into various schools, embracing different settings, and occasionally improvising when plans are unavailable.
- Assessment and Feedback: Provide constructive feedback and, where necessary, assess students’ understanding to keep them on track.
- Communication: Build rapport with students and collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth lesson transitions and support students’ learning goals.
