CERT Solutions are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to provide 1:1 support for an autistic child.

Working within a mainstream primary school in the Highgate area of Birmingham, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of a child with autism. Your dedication and expertise will help ensure the child can fully access the curriculum and thrive within the school community.

This is a full time, long-term role, starting September 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to the child throughout the school day.
  • Implement and adapt learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs.
  • Foster a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist with the child’s social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and record the child’s progress, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and parents.
  • Support the child in developing effective communication and social skills.
  • Ensure the child’s safety and well-being at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs.
  • Understanding of the challenges and needs of autistic children in a mainstream setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support (Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
